ROXAS City — The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here has line up activities for the upcoming Fire Prevention Month in March, BFP information officer FO3 Marlon Garbo said.
The 3rd Fun Run for Fire Prevention will jumpstart the series of events for the month on March 1.
The race will start 5 a.m. at the Gaisano City-Roxas’ parking lot to the Pueblo de Panay in Brgy. Lawa-an.
Participants shall register for P20 at the city’s BFP office on Bilbao Street, near the post office, Garbo said.
A mass will be held at the BFP-Roxas office at 8 a.m. A motorcade around the city follows at 9 a.m.
Contests on poster making, essay writing and drawing among students of the Department of Education – Division of Roxas City will be held at 1 p.m.
The registration of contestants will be in Brgy. Banica, said Garbo.
Among other activities are the inter-fire brigade and the inter-school Firefighting Drills and Rescue Olympics.
Fire drills will also be conducted in schools, hospitals and barangays, Garbo said.
Basic firefighting will also be taught to members of the Philippine Red Cross on March 2 and 9.
This year’s Fire Prevention Month has the theme, “Sunog at Sakuna Paghandaan Kalinisan ay Pangalagaan nang Matamasa ang Pagunlad ng Bayan.” -Panaynewsphilippines.com/Ralph John Mijares
